For twenty-eight years I worked as a veterinarian here in California. Every summer, I found myself spending more and more time along the coast, dreaming about a slower pace of life near the ocean.

Eleven years ago, a small boutique space became available in Laguna Beach. I remember sitting at my kitchen table thinking about it for weeks.

Eventually, I took the leap. And on a sunny morning, I opened the doors of Sharon's Laguna Beach for the very first time.

Now I'm sixty-five, and it's time to retire.

Not because something went wrong.
